Today, I am thankful for friends.
“Piglet sidled up to Pooh from behind. “Pooh?” he whispered.
“Nothing,” said Piglet, taking Pooh’s hand. “I just wanted to be sure of you.”
― A.A. Milne, Winnie-the-Pooh
I’m thankful for the friends I have,
Who I chat with now and then,
The ones I see most everyday,
And those waiting around the bend.
I’m thankful for the conversations,
Chatting all night long,
They feel like minutes passing by,
But are marked by the hours’ gong.
I’m thankful for the written words,
From friends both near and far,
That provide me with encouragement,
To reach for every star.
I’m thankful for their checking in
Right there to get me through,
On days when I am sad and down,
Like Piglet’s, “Making sure of you.”
I’m thankful for the the brave souls,
Who are taking on so much,
Yet save some time that’s just for me,
A gift, kind words, a touch.
I’m thankful for the precious times,
My dear friends feel down and cursed,
I can shower those friends with blessings,
And show sometimes THEY come first.
I’m thankful for the instances,
I’m on the board about to leap,
Taking on a new adventure,
With support from friendships deep.
I’m thankful for feelings conveyed,
I know, “It’ll be to be ok,”
I’m also thankful for ones who say,
“You’re going out in THAT, today?”
I’m thankful for our nice, sweet times,
And learn much from the mean,
Most of the time, I’m thankful for,
The love that’s in-between.
