The yoga world seems obsessed with SELF. Love yourself, care for yourself, forgive yourself, be gentle with yourself, the world revolves around yourself, SELF, SELF, SELF. A lot of people only pay attention to this part of yoga and not the whole thing. I know people who attempt to navigate their whole lives by ONLY doing what brings joy to themselves. Yeah, I know, sounds pretty SELFish. To these people, and others, I suggest taking the advice of a Mr. Kid President, if only in as superficial a way as is on the surface of his suggestion. It’s a good place to start.
We need to live in a world with fewer selfies and more otherpeoplies.
There’s nothing wrong with selfies. BUT, if that’s your only view of the world, you’ve got a problem. Then, as they say in the old days, you truly don’t care about anything past the nose on your face.
Next time you think about taking a selfie, try turning the camera around.
Next time you think about your SELF, try turning your perspective around.
Let me know how it goes when you explore the WHOLE world of yoga and humanity and not just yourSELF. Without the, “otherpeoplies,” it would be a fairly bleak existence.
