And on the third day…

And on the third day, we had another first day.

Many people started their work week today.  Did you? Some started new workout plans, new diets, new routines, new schedules, etc. Did you start something today?  If so, it’s the perfect day to start.  Every day is a new first day.

Today was the day I put away all the Christmas decorations.  This is usually such a depressing day for me.  This year, I decided I was going to create positive intention and choose a mindfulness practice while completing the process.

It was raining today.  No better day to stay inside and get some serious cleaning checked off the list, right? RIGHT!  Fire in the fire place, the audiobook version of Ken Robinson’s The Element (HUGE RECOMMENDATION) playing on the iPhone, mom stopped in to help, and doTerra White Fir and Holiday Joy diffusing into the air.  Taking down all the holiday decor created the perfect opportunity to complete the list of “spring cleaning” tasks usually saved for later in the year.  Now when the weather warms, the days lengthen, and the flowers bloom, I’ll have one more day to be outside to enjoy them. Rather than lament the end of the holiday season, I acknowledged my sadness (and wallowed in it for about 30 minutes), chose a new intention, and got to work.

Today was the first day I ever enjoyed putting away all the holiday decorations.

What was your first today?

What was your intention today?

What is your intention for tomorrow?

  1. Autumn,

I really enjoy reading your posts. 2016 was the worst year of my life so far; I am glad it is behind us now. I am looking forward to following you in 2017. Today, I am also putting away the Christmas decorations (after work) 🙂

2017 is a new start for me in many ways. 🙂

Thanks for the inspiration! Keep up the good work.

    • You are so amazing and your words meaningful to me! I’m so sorry to hear about your 2016! I think we should scheduled a coffee/tea date. Part of the reason I’m on a mindfulness kick on here is to hold MYSELF accountable to CHOOSE how I’m going navigate this year. I’m thankful this is helping to do the same for you.
