I am LOVING, LOVING, LOVING the long-term positive effect Kid President’s Guide to Being Awesome has on my day-to-day outlook on life. Day 59 suggests:
Throw a parade.
While I don’t necessarily have the means to throw a parade, I think this is an instance where it is all about perspective. There is a race in my town this weekend. I’m going to be teaching a post-race stretch yoga class. While I will not be running the race, it reminds me of the many ultra marathons, marathons, half marathons, and smaller races where people are cheering runners with inspirational signs… and snarky signs reading “WORST PARADE EVER!” I always enjoy and get a laugh out of these signs, but more importantly, these signs and Kid President’s Day 59 remind that with a shift in perspective, we can all join a parade any time we want. Just sign up for a run or walk.
If you’re interested in joining a 5k, 10k, half marathon parade or a virtual half marathon or 10k parade, registration is still available here. Hope to see you there!
