“Do not let your struggle become your identity.”
Too many times, we struggle to the point which we can no longer determine where the struggle ends and we as people begin.
If this is any of us, perhaps this awareness can allow the taking of a single step, or a million steps to place a chasm between who we are and the struggles we face.
For how can we ever know when we have surpassed a struggle, if we think we are the struggle?
“…if we are the struggle.” Powerful. Also I needed to hear this. I am really trying to turn the narrative around in my head, but transformation is difficult and sometimes painful.
It just takes one step at a time… and not getting down if we need to take a few careful steps backward in order to take successful steps forward.
I seem to have a really hard time being kind to myself when I fail. It’s a horrible cycle. 😦
It’s easy to be hard on ourselves. At least for me, that’s why it’s important to have friends who remind me I’m not a complete failure all the time.
oh hon! you’re wonderful– I’ll be sure to remind you tonight in person! 🙂
